Barcelona players: Van Gaal, Gaspart aren't to blame

Barcelona's players have backed both trainer Louis van Gaal and president Joan Gaspart to stay on as supporters call for both their resignations.

Barca are only two points away from the relegation zone after yesterday's shock 3-0 home defeat by Seville.

Fans are calling for both Gaspart and Van Gaal to quit, but after the game, Carles Puyol emerged from a dejected Barca dressing room to say: "We (the players) have put the club in this situation and we must get it out of it.

"I believe that a change of trainer is not the solution. The people responsible for this situation are the players and the solution is to win the next game and to find some confidence by winning."

Frank de Boer also said, "There's no doubt, this is the worst things have been since I joined Barcelona."

"That we are playing as we are is not the fault of the trainer - he is doing everything he can to prepare us before games."

"He (Gaspart) is the best president we can have, because his heart is with Barcelona. The players are very sad, very disappointed with the club's position."
