Barcelona heap pressure on Real Madrid over Eto'o

Barcelona have offered Real Mallorca an improved £16 million offer for striker Sammy Eto'o.

The Cameroon international is on the verge of a move to the Nou Camp, with Mallorca now set to fax their offer to Real Madrid, which owns 50 per cent of Eto'o's registration.

Barca's bid is far greater than Real's £7 million offer for Mallorca's co-ownership and the Madrid club now must top it or risk losing the African ace to the greatest rivals.

Eto'o's lawyer, Jose Maria Mesalles, has informed Mallorca president Mateo Alemany that he doesn't want to return to Real Madrid, which has no intention of playing him due to his non-EU status, and has his heart set on a move to Barca.
