Barcelona go for Real Madrid's Diogo after Zaragoza deal

Barcelona are expected to move for Carlos Diogo after his move from Real Madrid to Zaragoza was settled this week.

Ex-Real Madrid president Lorenzo Sanz hinted on local radio that Barca would come in for the Uruguay international now that Zaragoza had made his loan deal permanent.

However, DiarioSport says sources close to Diogo's agent, Paco Casal, indicate that as part of Madrid's sale a clause was included that states if Zaragoza were to sell to a major club (like Barcelona or AC Milan) within the next two years then the entire transfer would go to Real Madrid.

Real Madrid were originally demanding £4 million for Diogo, but dropped the fee to £1 million after Zaragoza agreed to the clause.
