Barcelona drop statement on angry fans swarming Ronald Koeman's car after Real Madrid loss

Barcelona have reacted to unsettling footage of Ronald Koeman trying to leave Camp Nou on Sunday.

Barcelona have strongly condemned supporters involved in ambushing Ronald Koeman whilst he was driving away from the Nou Camp on Sunday. Angry fans confronted Koeman after Barcelona lost 2-1 to Real Madrid in El Clasico, as pressure over his future at the club grows further.

On Sunday evening, a video emerged on social media of Koeman trying to leave the stadium after the latest loss of his tenure.

But he struggled to drive away from the stadium as a hoard of raging Barcelona supporters surrounded his car.

Many were aggressively banging on the vehicle and hurling abuse towards the former Netherlands boss.

Koeman was then spotted on the wheel, accelerating away, and the club have since reacted to the unsettling footage.

Later in the day, Barcelona released a statement on the incident, condemning those involved.

It read: "FC Barcelona publicly condemns the violent and disdainful acts that our manager experienced when leaving the Camp Nou."

"The club will take security and disciplinary measures so that such unfortunate events do not happen again."

After full-time, Koeman suggested that he wasn't disappointed by his side's performance despite defeat in El Clasico.
