Barca's teamwork will bring victory over Real says Deco

Portugal midfielder Deco believes Barcelona's teamwork will bring them victory over the 'galacticos' of Real Madrid on Saturday at the Bernabeu.

"I believe we are superior as a team, and that means we are more likely to win," he told the Barcelona website on Monday.

"We have as many match-winning players as they do and more quality in depth as a squad. They have players who can turn a game at any moment but there isn't a single aspect in which they are stronger than us."
 
The champions have been in impressive form of late, winning five games on the trot in all competitions and moving up to second in the Primera Liga, two points behind leaders Osasuna.

That run has seen them score 18 goals and only concede one, though they are still just a point clear of Real in third.

Vanderlei Luxmeburgo's side, struggling with a number of injuries, have been less than convincing while grinding out results. However, Real were able to defy the form books in April to record a 4-2 victory over Barca in the Bernabeu.

"Last year's defeat was a bit of a surprise," Deco said.

"We know that anything can happen in big games like these, but this year we are better prepared."

"They will be playing for pride and for their fans, so will give everything. If we do the same, though, I am convinced we will win."

Deco, who has missed the last three weeks due to a groin injury, will be available for selection.

Coach Frank Rijkaard will not be able to count on Dutch midfielder Mark van Bommel who collected an ankle injury while on international duty.

Real are hoping to have Ronaldo, Julio Baptista, Zinedine Zidane and Ivan Helguera back from injury for Saturday.

"It's worse for us if Ronaldo is back," Deco added, "because they are weaker without him. But for the spectacle, it would obviously be better if he played."
