Barca fight for star duo

Barcelona's arch-enemies Real Madrid have entered into battle to poach Sol Campbell from Tottenham Hotspur.

Barca have targeted Campbell, whose contract at the London-based outfit expires at the end of June, but Real Madrid have also joined the race to sign the talented centre-back according to reports in England - and the Madrilenos have offered to outbid their Catalan rivals in any dealings.

Real have allegedly put forward a $ US 45 million deal, that would be spread over the five years that Campbell would spend at the Bernabeu.

Barca's offer weighs in at around $ US 33 million but the player's agent, Sky Andrew, is waiting for a counter-bid from Barcelona by the end of the week.

Many expect Campbell to move to another club in London in the summer but a move to Catalunya may be appealing to the 26-year-old English international.

Real Madrid are also rumoured to be interested in signing River Plate's Javier Saviola, another player currently on Barca's agenda.
