Barca bite back

Barca's coach Carles Rexach has answered honorary president Alfredo di Stefano, who claimed Rexach is, and always has been 'a frightened loser'.

Rexach started the argument last week by suggesting that there is currently a high anti-Real Madrid feeling running through Spain which was highlighted during the Merengues recent outings at Zaragoza and Valencia.

On hearing Rexach's comments, Di Stefano launched a scathing attack on the Blaugrana coach.

But according to Rexach, Di Stefano has got the wrong end of the stick.

The Barca coach said: "I admire Di Stefano both as a player and as a person but I don't think that he listened to what I actually said."

"I don't want to cause any problems, all I meant was that before, the team was closer to the city of Madrid and its people and also now perhaps they aren't received as well in other cities as they were before."

He added: "I'm not saying its normal that there is an anti-Real Madrid feeling in Spain right now, what's happening is that we are experiencing a moment of nerves and aggression -that's why it's probably wise to close the door on the subject."
