Ballack keen on Real Madrid move

Real Madrid are moving for Bayern Munich midfielder Michael Ballack.
 
Once the protracted transfer of Santos winger Robinho is complete, Real president Florentino Perez has told coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo he will meet his request for a new, left-sided midfielder - and Ballack is top of his shopping list.

The Germany international has only a year left on his Bayern contract and is also a target for Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Marca says Real chiefs have already spoken with Ballack's representatives about a move to Madrid and have been encouraged by the player's response. Bayern want £16 million for Ballack, but Real won't go higher than £7 million for a player inside the final year of his contract.
