Baljic moves on in Madrid

Real Madrid's out-of-favour Bosnian striker Elvir Baljic has agreed to join Rayo Vallecano on loan until the end of the season.

Baljic will cover for Rayo midfielder Luis Cembranos, who looks set to miss the rest of the season with a ligament tear.

It will be the Bosnian's first chance at getting to play regular first-team football since he was loaned to Fenerbahce last season.

The 27-year-old has only starred once for Real this term, coming on against Anderlecht in the Champions League on September 26.

Signing for Real in 1999, Baljic was the most expensive signing at the club at that time, but a combination of bad luck with injuries and a lack of support from coach Vicente Del Bosque made it impossible for the player to break into the first team.

Baljic will be Rayo's third Bosnian star joining Elvir Bolic and Emir Granov, but striker Bolic is delighted with the signing and said: "The arrival of Baljic is good for me and the club, I've spoken to him and he says that he is more than happy to play here at Rayo."
