Baljic close to Milan move

Real Madrid striker Elvir Baljic is one step away from joining AC Milan with the Italians looking for a replacement for José Mari.

The Spanish striker faces surgery after being injured in action against Alaves on Sunday and could be out for at least three months, leaving Milan with just Andriy Shevchenko, Javi Moreno, Filippo Inzaghi and Aliyu in attack.

Baljic has stressed that his aim is to win back his place at Real Madrid but the Madrilenos are eager to inject cash into the club by offloading unwanted players like the Bosnian forward.

Real are hoping to get back some of the 3.5 billion pesetas they paid for Baljic in 1999 but Milan are believed to be offering somewhere in the region of 2 billion for the player.
