Baldini in Florence as Real Madrid bid for Toni

Real Madrid director Franco Baldini is in Florence for talks with Fiorentina over centre-forward Luca Toni.
 
Real are turning to Toni over concerns of entering an auction with Bayern Munich for Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Italy international Toni is aware of Real's interest and keen to work under coach Fabio Capello for the new season.

Fiorentina won't consider selling Toni for less than £17 million, though Baldini's opening offer was for £12 million.

Everything could change should Fiorentina be thrown out of Serie A over the Calciopoli scandal later this month.
