Atletico Madrid's Torres: Barcelona over Real Madrid

Atletico Madrid whiz-kid Fernando Torres says if he had to choose, he would join Barcelona over Real Madrid.

Torres scored in yesterday's opening Liga victory over Malaga and was asked about his future.

"I do envy my peers who have joined big clubs, like Jose Reyes (Arsenal) and Xabi Alonso (Liverpool)," said Torres. "I love Atletico Madrid and I'm grateful for the opportunity to play here."

"But there is a definite difference between playing for a great club and one like Atletico, which is always fighting to stay in the Primera."

Asked about who he'd choose between Barca and Real, Torres also told Marca: "I would choose Barcelona, definitely."

"But if I had to leave Atletico, I would rather go to Italy or England. I'd hate to play against Atletico with another Spanish team."
