Asencio hasn’t made his season debut for Real Madrid yet and he was hoping to get some minutes now that Huijsen is suspended and Konaté is injured. However, the small fracture on his shin is still there and he will need to go under the knife to recover from that injury.
That means that Rüdiger could be Real Madrid’s only available center-back when Los Blancos face Villarreal right after the FIFA break. If that ends up being the case and Konaté can’t recover in time from his own injury, Aurelien Tchouameni could start alongside Rüdiger in the back line.
