Arsenal to cash in on Reyes to solve defensive woes

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger may cash in on Jose Reyes' homesickness to fund a bid to reshape his creaking defence in the summer.

The Mirror says Wenger is leaning towards the option of selling Reyes, who has been linked with Real Madrid, to raise funds to not only sign a new centre-half, but also ward off the attentions of Chelsea and Barcelona in fullback Ashley Cole and secure the England ace to a bumper, new deal.

Top of Wenger's shopping list is Tottenham defender Ledley King. The Gunners boss would love to team King with Sol Campbell next season and is aware Spurs are yet to secure the youngster to a new contract, despite negotiations opening earlier this year.
