Arsenal's Edu prices himself out of Real Madrid move

Real Madrid have abruptly dropped their interest for Arsenal midfielder Edu.

The Brazilian's contract demands are regarded as far too steep by Real officials, particularly if they're also to cough up a transfer fee for the midfielder during next month's transfer market.

Real chiefs believed they had an agreement with Edu that would see his initial contract begin at a "medium level" with wages rising based on success. But the Brazil international demanded to be put on the same salary as galacticos Ronaldo and Zinedine Zidane, says AS.

Real are still interested in Edu as a Bosman signing in the summer, but after negotiations broke down this week its more likely Valencia will now move in next month and secure him to a pre-contract.
