Arsenal receive huge Benzema boost as Real Madrid agree to let £46m man leave

Karim Benzema has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates this summer, and Real Madrid are apparently ready to let him leave, according to the Metro.

The story originates from the oft unreliable Spanish site Fichajes, so must be taken with a pinch of salt. Reports about the Frenchman’s potential move to North London have been rampant though, so there could well prove to be some truth behind it.

The Metro claims Real Madrid president Florentino Perez deems Benzema surplus to requirements, and is keen on a summer upgrade in the shape of Sergio Aguero.

It seems preposterous to think Manchester City would let Aguero go, as he has unquestionably been one of the best strikers in world football in recent seasons. It would be fantastic if he were to move however, as not only would it facilitate our acquisition of Benzema, but would considerably weaken one of our strongest title competitors.
