Arsenal, Real Madrid watch as Milan push for Ajax talks over Chivu

AC Milan are taking advantage of their Champions League quarterfinal with Ajax to speak with the Dutch club about defender Cristian Chivu.

The Romania international will be sold in the summer and also is a prime target for Real Madrid and Arsenal.

Milan sees Chivu as a natural long-term successor to veteran Paolo Maldini and will use the next week to continue negotiations with Ajax over the left-sided defender's price.

Arsenal are believed to have made an official approach for Chivu last week.
