Arsenal make serious pitch for Real Madrid target Robinho

Arsenal are making a serious play for Santos wing wizard Robinho.
 
Real Madrid were locked in as favourites for the Brazil international, but Santos have declared they want more than £17 million for the winger and that has put off the Spanish giants.

Real had agreed a £12million fee with Santos for their star. But Bernabeu bosses were left fuming after the Gunners placed a bid of £14m.

Real were hoping to tie up the deal after Robinho, 21, plays in the Confederations Cup final on Wednesday.

But Robinho's agent Juan Figger admitted Arsenal's bid had put them in the driving seat.
