Arsenal, Liverpool to make offers to Real Madrid's Helguera

Arsenal and Liverpool are drawing up pre-contract offers for Real Madrid defender Ivan Helguera.

The Spain international denied this week that contact had been received from Liverpool, but also admitted their had been no sign of Real wanting to initiate talks over a new deal.

Helguera is off contract in the summer and is free to speak with interested clubs from January 1.
