Arsenal boss: I'd sign Beckham

As Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger reflects on a close season which has seen the Gunners rivals spend freely in the transfer market, the Frenchman openly admits he would have signed David Beckham given the financial backing.

Speaking to the London Evening Standard: "They [United] lose his football qualities, of course, but he was also one of the hardcore of youngsters who developed together from the youth squad."

"That little group has been one of their big strengths over the years and now one of the key figures has gone. That could be detrimental to team spirit."

"But, given the chance, I'd have signed him because he's a great player. As a coach making a football decision, you'd sign him."
