Argie Mascherano closer to Chelsea move

Chelsea are confident of securing a deal for River Plate midfielder Javier Mascherano.

The 21 year-old is seen as a natural successor to Claude Makelele in Chelsea's midfield and will arrive at Stamford Bridge over the summer.

Chelsea are believed to have seen off rival interest from Juventus, Arsenal and Real Madrid to land Mascherano for a £10 million fee.
