Anelka blasts French media

Nicolas Anelka has hit back at the French media who claimed that he had demanded a move back to Real Madrid.

The former Arsenal and Real striker was quoted as saying that he would love to be given the chance to return to the Bernabeu with a clean slate.

But now he has stated that his words were miscontstrued and he has no intention to leave Paris Saint-Germain after only one season back in his homeland.

Anelka explained: "I went to see my brother in Madrid after the Confederations Cup. When I was there I bumped into Roberto Carlos, Aitor Karanka and Ivan Campo."

"They were all in a restaurant and I got on well with all of them. But there was also a photographer from Spanish paper Marca."

"He took some photos of us all at the table after I agreed. Then another newspaper, AS, contacted me and asked for an interview and a photograph in the hotel I was in."

"I said yes and when they came we chatted about Madrid and about Paris. I told them that I had not regretted leaving Madrid and was enjoying being back in Paris very much."

"But then when the French media got hold of the story the words became mangled and were all taken out of context."

"I don't know why they do this in France. They claimed that I said if Real offered me a contract I would return straight away."

"But that just is not true. I am with Paris Saint-Germain and I am going to win things with club."
