Ancelotti admits speaking with Real Madrid president Florentino over Copa exit

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is frustrated being out of the Copa del Rey.

Real were dumped out by city rivals Atletico Madrid.

"Being self-critical, in the two games against Atlético we had control and played pretty well, and were punished for mistakes that prevented us from going through. We're sorry about it, the Copa was a target for us," said Ancelotti.

"Last year we won the trophy, but we have to look forward. We have two competitions, La Liga and the Champions League. We have to avoid mistakes and focus. We have a month to focus on La Liga, stay top, and if possible increase our points lead over our rivals."

"Yes, I spoke to the president. As I've said, the president is sorry, the team is sorry, the players... We're not happy about losing in this competition to Atlético. We have to look forward and focus on La Liga and the Champions League."
