Ambrosini's late header proves difference for AC Milan

Massimo Ambrosini earned AC Milan a date with Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League final.

Ambrosini's header in the first minute of second-half stoppage time ultimately proved the difference as Milan advanced to the final of Europe's premier club competition on the away-goal rule despite losing the second leg of its semifinal clash with PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday, 3-1.

Milan, which will meet Liverpool in the final in Istanbul, Turkey on May 25, held a 2-0 lead after the first leg but saw its advantage disappear after goals from Ji-Sung Park in the ninth minute and Phillip Cocu in the 65th.

But just after injury time began, Ambrosini headed a cross from Kaka off the left hand of PSV goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes into the net, staking the Italian power to a 3-2 aggregate advantage.

Cocu immediately struck back with a volley past Milan goalkeeper Dida, but time ran out before the hosts could score a fourth.

PSV, the Dutch Eredivisie champion, was without American winger DaMarcus Beasley, who is suffering from a knee injury.
