Agent: Real Madrid to trump Milan for Alex

Real Madrid appear to have trumped AC Milan for Santos defender Alex.

The Brazilian youngster has been a long-term target for Milan officials Adriano Galliani and Leonardo.

But the player's agent, Guiliano Bertolucci, says Real Madrid are ready to offer Santos £6 million for his signature.

"My client has a contract until 2005, but if Real are prepared to offer that figure, I'm sure that Santos will not be opposed to his transfer."

"I have had many talks with (Real sports director) Jorge Valdano, and I'm sure that an agreement will be found."
