Agent: No Real Madrid contact over Arsenal's Vieira

The agent of Arsenal captain Patrick Vieira has played down new reports of interest from Real Madrid.

Vieira signed a new contract with Arsenal last summer which still has three years to run.

His agent Steve Kutner said: "Just because Perez says he admires a player doesn't mean he is going to sign him."

"If Real Madrid want to sign Patrick Vieira they have to contact Arsenal."

Real president Florentino Perez is ready to bid £30 million for the French international and said: "This business works by winning trophies and by signing a galactico each season."

"I am going to continue the policy of bringing one in every year. The result of the election obliges me to do this more than ever. We have to construct a competitive team."
