Advocaat: Madrid Now Sign Players They Need

Dick Advocaat thinks that Real Madrid have started buying wisely again after several years of only looking to sign players that would make the club money.

The Dutch boss analysed los Merengues ahead of the meeting between his Zenit St Petersburg side and the Spanish giants in the Champions League this week.

After the Galáctico era off buying names rather than players for positions that needed strengthening, Advocaat believes Madrid are finally doing things the right way again.

"Real Madrid have done very well in the transfer market. Previously they committed a lot of mistakes when they signed names, but they are signing players," he explained.

"They have some of the best players in the world. They have a lot of talent in midfield and in defence, as well as going forward."

Zenit maybe the UEFA Cup holders and fancy their chances of progressing in the Champions League, Advocaat still views them as complete underdogs against Madrid.

"We have nothing to lose. In normal conditions, Real Madrid should finish first in the group. They play in the Champions League every year," he added.

Finally, the Dutchman was asked whether he could be tempted by a job in Spanish football when his current contract ends in November and he admitted it could happen.

"Why not? I have a house in Marbella. I will announce my final decision in the middle of October," he stated.
