86% of Real Madrid fans don't want David De Gea signed this summer

Spanish newspaper AS have asked thousands of Real Madrid fans their opinion on signing Manchester United's David De Gea this summer. The goalkeeper has been linked with a move to Real Madrid all summer and the Spanish club's desire to buy him seems matched by De Gea's desire to make the move home.

Manchester United haven't been playing ball and don't want to sell the player for less what they feel he's worth, regardless of when his contract ends. Real Madrid disagree and feel they should get a knockdown price because he could join them for free in a year anyway. Madrid still want the deal done during this window and negotiations go on.

AS asked fans if Real Madrid should sign De Gea from Manchester United this summer or wait a further season and get him for free, an overwhelming 86% said they'd rather the club waited and got the Spanish goalkeeper when his contract runs out, therefore saving a fortune.

That's not great news for De Gea, who would need Real Madrid to really push for a move for one to happen. If Madrid don't feel under pressure from fans, and the fans would rather wait, then it may be best for Madrid to get De Gea to sign a pre-contract agreement in January. That's good news for Manchester United's chances of keeping him for a further season.
