€6 million-rated Spanish striker waiting for official announcement of Real Madrid move

Real Madrid target Joselu is currently with the Spanish national team, preparing for the upcoming UEFA Nations League semi-finals.

La Roja are just two games away from the trophy and the striker is expected to play a critical part in the fixtures later this week.

His impressive numbers last season have not only caught the eyes of those in the national team but also those at Real Madrid. Los Blancos see him as the prime contender to replace Mariano Diaz for next season, and negotiations have been ongoing for a while now.

According to reports from AS, Joselu is only waiting for his signing to be made official by Real Madrid. The numbers have been discussed and agreed upon, and it is only the formal procedures that remain.

In fact, the 33-year-old was even questioned about his speculated move to the Santiago Bernabeu earlier this week. However, he understandably could not give away anything much as revealed by AS.

“I can’t say anything right now, but it’s always a compliment that it’s in the newspapers. I hope that good things will come in the future, but right now I am focused on the National Team and trying to win the Nations League.”

Contrary to the popular assumption that the Espanyol star will serve as a backup striker for the Merengues, the report states that he will be their main striker for the 2023-24 campaign. After all, his numbers from last season are beyond impressive.

The veteran scored 16 goals in La Liga in just 34 appearances and even provided two assists in the process. He was, in fact, only behind Robert Lewandowski and Karim Benzema in the race for the Pichichi.
