2003 UEFA Cup final set for Sevilla

Seville's Olimpico Stadium has been announced as the venue for the 2003 UEFA Cup Final, beating off Villa Park and the Stade du France.

UEFA committee president Lennart Johansson confirmed on Thursday morning that the 2003 competition final would be played in the Andalucian capital on May 21 in Seville’s state-of-the-art stadium.

The luxurious arena even has a mini-hotel built in the stands, meaning that the final can be watched in style from a comfortable bed.

Meanwhile Real Madrid were not as lucky since Manchester United’s Old Trafford ground pipped the Santiago Bernabeu in the race to be named as the venue for the 2003 Champions League final.

Real were keen to promote their centenary by hosting the showpiece event.
