£15M Man Utd double deal on for Real Madrid's Figo, Makelele

Manchester United remain favourites to sign Real Madrid superstar Luis Figo in June.

The Portuguese ace is expected to be sold by Real at the end of the season as the club rebuilds its Champions League winning line-up.

Claude Makelele and Fernando Hierro are also expected to be moved on, though it is Figo who will create most interest.

Manchester United and Newcastle are expected to battle for the 30 year-old's signature, who has stated a wish to move to the Premiership when he leaves Real.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is also believed to be in advanced talks with Makelele's representatives and could strike a double-deal worth over £15 million at the end of the season.
