Real Madrid boss Mourinho satisfied after Copa win
Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho was pleased with their Copa del Rey win over Ponferradina.
Real won 2-0, with Jose Callejon getting on the scoresheet.
Mourinho said: "We gave a serious performance and took an important step forward in the tie despite playing the return leg at home. All my men did their job."
"Ponferradina, looking to score, moved their lines forward and we used that to take a step forward and be more relaxed. I gave Jese the chance to make his debut when we were 2-0 up. He couldn't come on in Amsterdam because he doesn't know how to play as a right back and Arbeloa had to be replaced."
"Callejon is motivated every minute that he plays. I like his attitude very much. Varane, Altintop and Sahin are gradually doing better; every minute they play is important. Varane is growing as a player and what matters is to compete on a pitch."
"I expected us to win 1-0 or 2-0 against a well organised side that proved it knows how to play football. They were very motivated and showcased spirit. We will show them the same affection and fairplay on Tuesday they showed us."
