Pepe defends Real Madrid after Sporting Gijon stalemate

Pepe defended Real Madrid's performance in their disappointing 0-0 draw at Sporting Gijon yesterday.

The result was not what Real had been seeking after defeat at home to Champions League opponents AC Milan in midweek.

Real defender Pepe said: "I think the team has lacked a goal. We did a good job, all fighting for the victory, but we lacked the skill in front of goal. There is some way to go to complete the league and we can still finish first."

"Do not talk about the absences, we must believe that those here want to help the team."
