Juande Ramos Satisfied With Real Madrid’s Narrow Win
Real Madrid ensured that they stayed within sight of runaway leaders, Barcelona, as a hard-fought 1-0 win over Deportivo La Coruña last night prevented the gap from ballooning over the current 12-point deficit.
It was yet again another less than sweeping victory and more a case of ‘win at all cost’ and coach Juande Ramos is happy enough for his troops to continue maintaining that mentality.
“The most important thing is to win our games. Although we always try to play our best football, at the moment, it is obligatory to be satisfied with a narrow victory,” he said during the post-match conference.
“We were quite good in the first half, but in the second, we let our guard down a little. But in the end, we secured the three points and we have to be content with that,” he added.
The man from La Mancha then went on to defend some of his players, especially Marcelo and Royston Drenthe, who were once again jeered by the home fans.
“We must all show them our support because they are players who can help us a lot on the flanks.
“We are working to ensure that they regain their form physically and mentally so that they can contribute to the team."
“As for Huntelaar, he is still in the process of adaptation.”
Juande concluded the interview by giving his view on the title race: “There is still a long way to go in La Liga and many points to be won. The main objective is to continue adding three points to our tally and five or six more rounds from now, we will evaluate our position again and see what options we have.”
