Racing had looked set to miss out after Real Mallorca beat Real Zaragoza 3-2 - a result that sees Zaragoza relegated from the flight - but Bolado struck late on to seal sixth.
Racing will now hope to hold onto their highly-regarded coach Marcelino with Sevilla and Valencia interested in his services.
