Beckham sees red, rows with Schuster
Real Madrid midfielder David Beckham was sent-off during yesterday's 1-0 win over Getafe.
The 30-year-old midfielder was dismissed early in the second half of Real's win at the Bernabeu and was then involved in an angry exchange with opposition coach Bernd Schuster on the sidelines.
Beckham was guilty of nothing more than a rash challenge on striker Riki but the greater concern may be that he did not leave quietly and confronted Schuster before heading down the tunnel.
After the clash between Madrid and Getafe, Schuster laughed off his confrontation with Beckham.
Schuster, a German who once played for Real Madrid, said he had no problem with Beckham.
"I simply congratulated him on how well he played," Schuster said.
"I don't know what was going on with him. You'd better ask him."
Beckham's own coach Wanderley Luxemburgo attempted to play down Beckham's dismissal, and rejected suggestions the 30-year-old midfielder was out to collect his fifth yellow card of the season.
"I don't think it was an attempt to provoke a fifth yellow card," Luxemburgo said. "He was in a difficult situation as are all of the players and he got a little bit carried away."
"We will sit down and analyse the situation later."
