Cesc Fabregas gives his take on Real Madrid’s chances vs Arsenal – ‘They are capable of anything’

Real Madrid have made a habit of producing unforgettable nights at the Santiago Bernabeu, turning hopeless situations into historic triumphs.

However, this time, they face one of the biggest challenges in their recent Champions League history.

After suffering a 0-3 loss in the first leg against Arsenal, Los Blancos need to score four without conceding any to reach the semi-finals — a task that even their most loyal fans know will not come easy.

It must be noted that the magic of the Bernabeu has humbled many confident teams in the past, and this legacy still makes people cautious before writing Madrid off completely.

Spanish outlet AS gathered insights from former Arsenal players, who know how tough it is to win at the Bernabeu — but also how hard it will be for Madrid this time.

Cesc Fabregas, who wore the Arsenal shirt over 300 times and now manages Italian club Como, shared his view:

"I’d like to say it’s a done deal, but Real Madrid is Real Madrid."

"Having played there (at the Bernabeu) many times, I can say they are capable of anything, although you have to admit that the advantage going into a match like this is formidable," he noted.

Meanwhile, Nacho Monreal, a former Spanish defender with nearly seven years at Arsenal, echoed a similar feeling.

"I don’t know to what extent the Bernabeu atmosphere will intimidate Arsenal players, who have experience and have seen many battles."

"On a sporting level, we all know very well what Madrid has achieved in that stadium, but the data and statistics indicate that overcoming a result like that against a great team will be very complicated."

To reach the semi-final, Real Madrid need to win by at least four goals without conceding, and that is the only way they can go through without extra time.

If they manage to pull it off, a clash with Paris Saint-Germain awaits — a team just as hungry for European glory.
