Real Madrid might not have signed a lot of players in recent times but they have an excellent record when it comes to picking the right talents to improve their squad. And Trent Alexander-Arnold is someone who has been heavily linked with a switch to Santiago Bernabeu next summer.
Trent has been a key part of the Liverpool team for years now. His current deal at Anfield is set to run out next summer though.
So far, no extension has been reached. And when a player of his calibre enters the final year of his contract, one has to question whether an exit is close.
As reported by Football365, reports in Spain have claimed that Alexander-Arnold ‘will play for Real Madrid’ next term. And that he ‘has long since decided not to continue at Anfield, especially after Jurgen Klopp’s departure was confirmed’.
It remains to be seen how accurate these suggestions are. But if they prove to be on the mark, Real Madrid might be set to sign another exceptional talent.
Of course, there have been question marks over the defensive side of Trent's game over the years. Nobody has ever questioned his quality going forward though. He might be one of the best full-backs in history in that respect.
Real Madrid already have Dani Carvajal in their ranks but sooner or later, they will need to find a replacement for the legendary right-back. There are not many better options than Trent out there.
