After Sunday night’s 3-2 win over FC Barcelona, Real Madrid players were given two days off by manager Carlo Ancelotti.
The stars returned to training today as they began preparations for the upcoming game against Real Sociedad on Friday night.
With Real Madrid resuming training, journalist Melchor Ruiz of COPE reports that defender Ferland Mendy is not training with the rest of the group today ahead of Friday’s clash against Real Sociedad.
Mendy, 28, did not participate in the game against Barcelona on Sunday due to some overload in his left leg and fatigue stepping in after the efforts against Manchester City.
And, it appears that the French international is still not ready to make a full return to training with the rest of the group.
With Mendy not being a part of the team training today, there are question marks over his availability against Real Sociedad for Friday night.
While Mendy’s availability for the La Liga fixture this week is under doubt, the report states that the French left-back will definitely be ready to face Bayern Munich next week.
Real Madrid take on the Bavarian giants in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League semi-final away at the Allianz Arena on April 30.
And, as things stand, the expectation is that Mendy will be ready and available for the trip to Germany even though he might miss the Real Sociedad clash.
The Frenchman is staring at an uncertain future at Real Madrid, with a number of top Premier League clubs interested.
As such, he will be eager to put on a strong showing and secure his future at Real Madrid between now and the end of the season.
