Serie A giants AS Roma and Inter Milan are keen on completing a Bosman move for Real Madrid veteran Nacho this summer.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, an adventure in Serie A might be on the cards for Nacho. AS Roma and Inter Milan are keen on signing the 34-year-old in the summer transfer window. And the veteran utility man might leave Real Madrid as a free agent in the coming months after over two decades at the club.
Nacho has been an asset for Real Madrid despite never being an undisputed first-choice defender under any manager. The Spaniard can reprise every role in the defensive unit, having excelled as a right-back, a left-back, and a centre-back whenever his coach has assigned him to a position in the backline.
The 34-year-old has an association of over two decades with Real Madrid while being in the first-team squad for 15 years. He has turned out nearly 350 times thus far for Los Blancos, chipping in with 16 goals and nine assists. Meanwhile, the veteran utility man has also made 24 appearances for the Spanish national side.
But Nacho has entered the final six months of his contract with Real Madrid, with talks over a new contract not progressing much. Such a situation has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs, particularly in Serie A. Recent reports have linked him with AC Milan, with AS Roma and Inter Milan also keen on signing him.
AS Roma might not complete a permanent move for Diego Llorente in the summer transfer window. In addition, Chris Smalling faces an uncertain future at Stadio Olimpico. So, it is hardly surprising that AS Roma might look to secure Nacho’s services heading into the 2024/25 season.
As for Inter Milan, the Serie A giants have seen rising interest in Alessandro Bastoni. Interestingly, the Italian international is a target for Real Madrid. So, we might even see Bastoni and Nacho swapping bases this summer, with the Nerazzurri raking in some money.
Serie A has had an increased Spanish presence in the last few years, with Luis Alberto, Suso, Pedro, and many others thriving in the league. Fabian Ruiz was one of the best players in the competition before joining Paris Saint-Germain. So, AS Roma and Inter Milan’s interest in Nacho might lead to a summer move.
