Rodrygo is having a superb debut season at Real Madrid.
The 19-year-old signed for Real Madrid back in 2018 as he completed a €45 million move.
He officially joined the club last summer and he's been impressive, scoring seven times in 18 games.
The forward would have been in contention for El Clasico, which takes place next Sunday.
But he will now miss the game after being sent off in bizarre circumstances for Real Madrid Castilla.
The youngster has not been involved in Real Madrid's last few games and thus was in the starting lineup for the 'B' team against SS Reyes on Sunday.
And he impressed as he scored a tremendous solo goal late on in the game.
The youngster picked up the ball just inside the opposition half, beat a player for pace down the left-hand side before cutting in and dinking the ball past the goalkeeper.
But then disaster struck.
The goalkeeper came out to confront Rodrygo. Why he did so is unknown.
But, instead of ignoring his opponent, Rodrygo decided to goad him by celebrating in his face.
And that would prove to be a stupid decision as he was already on a yellow card. The referee gave him his second booking and thus he received his marching orders.
Rodrygo didn't complain about the decision. He instead walked off the pitch without protesting and clapped the fans.
But you've got to admit that was a really stupid move from him.
He's just scored a brilliant goal and then needlessly reacted to the opposition goalkeeper trying to get him sent off.
And Zinedine Zidane is unlikely to be happy, too.
Eden Hazard has had numerous injury problems this year and those woes continued as it was announced on Sunday that he had fractured his ankle again.
The Belgian is definitely out for the Barcelona game and could be out for the rest of the season.
With Hazard injured, it's likely Rodrygo would at least have been in the squad.
But he can't now after being sent off. Whether that impacts his first team opportunities going forward remains to be seen.
