It has been a frustrating start to life at Real Madrid for Arda Guler as the young sensation has been bogged down by injuries since his arrival in the summer.
The 18-year-old Turkish prodigy has returned to full fitness since the turn of the year, but opportunities have not been forthcoming for him, with Carlo Ancelotti drip-feeding him minutes, which is understandable given the fact that he was out of action for six months.
It had given way to speculations about a loan move in January so that Guler could play regularly and continue his development. But the player, after a meeting with club president Florentino Perez, shut down that route and opted to stay in Madrid.
However, Guler’s future could again be up for debate in the summer depending on how regularly he features for Ancelotti.
In fact, SPORT is reporting that the 18-year-old Real Madrid wonderkid is attracting interest from Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur and Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen.
Serie A heavyweights AC Milan are also understood to be interested in the former Fenerbahce starlet.
The aforementioned clubs are eager to capitalise on Guler’s lack of minutes to sign him in the summer, either on loan or even in a permanent transfer, although that appears extremely unlikely to happen.
The report further goes on to state that Real Madrid might be open to the idea of loaning Guler out, provided the player himself agrees to the move.
In that case, the idea would be to send the 18-year-old to a club where he will be guaranteed minutes to avoid the repeat of a situation similar to that of Reinier Jesus at Borussia Dortmund.
AC Milan, to that end, might have an advantage, with Los Blancos said to like the Rossoneri as an option after Brahim Diaz’s successful stint at the club.
As mentioned above though the decision will rest with the player, who is currently focused on earning more minutes under Ancelotti in the coming months to prove himself worthy of regular game-time next season.
