Over the years, Adidas and Real Madrid have designed some of football’s most iconic jerseys together.
The first kit, as a rule of thumb, has always remained white but there has been considerable, yet safe experimentation with the second and third kits.
In recent years, for instance, Los Blancos have donned red, pink, green and orange as part of their away and third kits. Next season, however, they plan to take it up a notch and revolutionise the shirt.
According to reports from MARCA, the first kit for next season will remain with a primary white theme, as has been the case across the decades.
The other two kits, however, will involve a sense of risk in terms of style and colour.
The second kit for next season will boast an orange colour which is considered unconventional in football.
Nevertheless, it will not be the first time Los Blancos don the shade as they wore it ten years ago when, ironically, Carlo Ancelotti was in charge.
The third kit of the team will be brown, a colour that Real Madrid have never worn in their history. In fact, very few top teams like Barcelona, PSG and Arsenal have had it in their kits.
Real Madrid’s shirt sales this season have seen a boom due to Jude Bellingham’s fine start to life in Spain. The Englishman’s jerseys are in high demand and selling like hotcakes.
For next season, Real Madrid anticipates a larger boom after Kylian Mbappe’s arrival. As per their calculations, the amplitude by which the sales will boom after his signing will negate any possible detrimental effect the altered colours could have.
The Merengues’ shirt, after all, is the best-selling jersey in the world whilst also being the most valuable kit globally.
Considering the €250 million sponsorship it generates and the astronomical sales, Real Madrid have a money-making machine at their disposal.
