Arsenal have reportedly made a formal approach for Real Madrid midfielder Isco, as the Gunners look to bolster their squad with one of Spain’s most promising players this January.
According to the Express, Arsenal have contacted Real Madrid over the availability of Isco, who continues to play a bit role with Los Blancos, often losing out on his place to James Rodriguez, who is currently sidelined with injury.
Isco was brought in two years ago as Real Madrid looked to infuse their squad with some of Spain’s brightest stars, with Dani Carvajal, Asier Illarramendi and the former Malaga star all arriving in the same summer as Gareth Bale, but with Illarramendi shipped back to Real Sociedad, Carvajal battling his place with Danilo, Isco could be the next player out of the Santiago Bernabeu.
Arsenal are hoping to negotiate the transfer of Isco, who would join a growing contingent of Spaniards at the Emirates, while AS are reporting that Real Madrid could be tempted to sell Raphael Varane to Manchester United and bring in Everton defender John Stokes following his failed move to Chelsea this past summer.
While it is still too early to determine if Arsenal will be successful in their attempt to sign Isco, Arsene Wenger is laying the groundwork for a formidable second half run in the English Premier League and Champions League.
