Cristiano Ronaldo tops the scoring list at the culmination of the Champions League group stage for 2012/13.
The Portuguese star netted six goals in six appearances for Real Madrid throughout the initial phase of Europe’s premier club competition, scoring in the 3-2 win over Manchester City, a hat-trick in the 4-1 victory at Ajax, one in the 2-1 defeat at Borussia Dortmund and the opener in Tuesday’s 4-1 home triumph over Ajax.
Alongside Ronaldo on six goals is Galatasaray striker Burak Yilmaz who added to his tally with the equalizer in Wednesday night’s 2-1 win at Sporting Braga. The Turkey international scored four goals in two outings against Cluj, including a hat-trick, and the winner against Manchester United in the second last group fixture.
Ronaldo’s Spanish La Liga foe Lionel Messi sits second on five goals following doubles against Spartak Moscow in both fixtures and one against Celtic. The Argentine ace is joined by a pair of players with Chelsea’s Oscar, who scored in Wednesday’s 6-1 romp over Nordsjaelland, and Braga striker Alan also prolific.
Behind them sit a group of players on four goals including Schalke ace Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, Valencia pair Roberto Soldado and Jonas, Olympiakos striker Kostas Mitroglou, Borussia Dortmund star Robert Lewandowski and Shakhtar Donetsk’s Willian.
