Speaking on El Chiringuito TV, former Real Madrid player and club legend Guti has heaped praise on rising star Jude Bellingham, claiming that the midfielder is going for the throne of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Bellingham has made a spectacular start to life as a Real Madrid player following his €103 million transfer from Borussia Dortmund during the summer transfer window – a sum that the club now consider a bargain owing to his impact.
The England international has racked up ten goals and three assists in ten matches for Los Blancos, helping them to the top of the pile in La Liga and the UEFA Champions League Group C.
Such has been his impact that many pundits and former players have gone on to call him as the best player in the world based on current form and Guti has jumped on the bandwagon.
Following the departures of Ronaldo and Messi from European football this year, the proverbial throne of the best footballer in the continent has been left vacant and according to Guti, Bellingham is gunning for it.
“ Bellingham is the only one who has realised that the throne of Messi and Ronaldo is vacant, and is going for it,” Guti said.
In a very short time at the club, Bellingham has become a fan favourite at Real Madrid and Guti shared why he thinks the supporters love and adore the 20-year-old so much, saying:
"Real Madrid fans love Bellingham so much because he wanted to come to Madrid."
It is no mean feat to arrive at a club of Real Madrid’s size and stature from a different country, at the age of just 20, and make the kind of impact that Bellingham has made. The sky is the limit for the England international.
