Real Madrid will reportedly look to sign 23-year-old Bayern Munich full-back Alphonso Davies, a target for Chelsea and Manchester City, in a deal worth €50 million.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Alphonso Davies is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The Merengues are ready to shell out €50 million to sign the Bayern Munich full-back. The 23-year-old is also a target for Premier League heavyweights Chelsea and Manchester City.
Alphonso Davies has blossomed into one of the best full-backs in the Bundesliga since joining Bayern Munich. The Canadian international has come leaps and bounds in the last half a decade, becoming a mainstay at the back for the Bavarian giants. In addition, he has grown in stature on the international stage.
The 23-year-old has turned out 179 times thus far for Bayern Munich, chipping in with nine goals and 28 assists. But Davies’s long-term future is the subject of speculation as he has entered the final 18 months of his contract with Bayern Munich. Such a situation has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of Real Madrid, Chelsea, and Manchester City.
Real Madrid’s interest in Alphonso Davies is understandable. With Ferland Mendy no longer being a dependable performer, Los Blancos will need a new first-choice left-back. So, the Bayern Munich defender is a viable target for Real Madrid. And the Merengues are ready to pay €50 million to secure his services.
But that might be a problem for Real Madrid, with Manchester City reportedly willing to fork out €70 million to sign the 23-year-old. The Premier League champions also need a left-back, with Pep Guardiola not trusting Sergio Gomez, the club’s only recognised left-back. Mendy is thus an option worth considering.
Chelsea can also afford to pay more than €50 million to beat Real Madrid to Alphonso Davies. Ben Chilwell has struggled with injuries in the last three seasons, while Marc Cucurella and Ian Maatsen face uncertain futures at Stamford Bridge. So, the Canadian international has emerged as a target for Chelsea.
With Chelsea and Manchester City threatening to hijack the move for the Bayern Munich full-back, Real Madrid will have to be vigilant. It will be interesting to see where the 23-year-old lands if he leaves Bayern Munich this summer.
