Much like last summer, Barcelona will once again have their eye on the free-agent pool when the transfer window opens in a few weeks.
he Catalans are reported to have already completed two Bosman deals for Andreas Christensen and Franck Kessie, with the pair expected to arrive when their respective contracts with Chelsea and AC Milan expire in June.
But, Barça’s free transfer business could not be limited to just those two players as they are reportedly keeping tabs on Paris Saint-Germain winger Angel Di Maria.
The former Real Madrid superstar is in the final two months of his deal with the French champions and is all set to move on at the end of the season. And, Barcelona have emerged as a shock suitor for the 34-year-old veteran Argentine.
With Adama Traore unlikely to be signed permanently and Ousmane Dembele’s contract still unresolved, there will be room for a new right-winger to arrive at Camp Nou. Di Maria could potentially be seen as a short-term fix for the position.
However, Barça will have to face competition from La Liga rivals Sevilla, who are also considering a swoop for the former Real Madrid attacker.
Indeed, Fichajes is reporting that Sevilla director Monchi is considering launching a swoop for the Argentine and could use his compatriots like Lucas Ocampos, Alejandro Gomez, Erik Lamela and Marcos Acuna to convince Di Maria to move to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.
Apart from Barcelona and Sevilla, there is interest from the likes of Atletico Madrid, Benfica and Juventus as well.
Despite his age, the winger still has plenty left to offer with his experience and winning mentality. So, the PSG superstar has no shortage of suitors heading into the summer transfer window and it remains to be seen where he ends up next season.
