Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has left the club’s pre-season tour.
Real Madrid are in Canada preparing for the new season with Zidane back in charge.
But midway through the pre-season camp in Montreal Zidane has had to swiftly return to Europe.
A statement from Madrid read: "Our manager, Zinedine Zidane, has left the pre-season training camp in Montreal for personal reasons."
"Until he returns, sessions will be led by assistant coach David Bettoni."
Madrid’s first pre-season outing will be against Bayern Munich on July 21 in Houston.
Following that they face Arsenal three days later in Maryland before engaging in a Madrid derby against Atletico in New Jersey on July 28.
Zidane’s absence for the upcoming season is no doubt a blow for Los Blancos as they look to embed their new recruits.
The Frenchman returned to a second spell in charge midway through last season despite only resigning 12 months ago.
His main task will be to overhaul rivals Barcelona, whose domestic dominance shows no sign of letting up.
Allowances will of course be made if the 47-year-old can deliver yet another Champions League title.
Zidane’s return came on the pretence that he would have greater control over certain aspects of the club, one of which was transfers.
He has so far welcomed Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic, Ferland Mendy and Eder Militao to the Bernabeu.
Rumours persist that more big names could be heading to the Spanish capital, but no actions have been taken on Zidane’s interest.
Paul Pogba is believed to top his shortlist with the World Cup winner admitting he wants to manufacture a way out of Old Trafford.
