European Champions Real Madrid put seven players on the shortlist in a bid to attract the attention of potential buyers. The first team has not been strengthened so far in the summer transfer market, with top officials insisting the club must first sell players before purchasing anyone.
"We are looking to sell some of our elements, otherwise those seven players put on the shortlist will not be registered for the new season", club director Jorge Valdano explained today.
Valdano revealed
Flavio Conceicao refused to go to Besiktas even though an agreement was found by the clubs.
Savio was shortlisted by some European teams but a general lack of cash dented his move away from Madrid.
"We can only register 25 players", Valdano said.
"If we don't find a solution, those unfortunate seven are poised to remain out of action indefinitely".
Elvir Baljic and
Geremi Ndjitap are among those who don't figure in the club's plans. Albert
Celades,
Pedro Munitis and Edwin Congo are also currently left in limbo.
